Ever since I’ve started at the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, I’ve been the lead designer working on the Fire and Rescue Incident Statistics designs every October (as well as the Fire Safety and Organisational Statistics every August). These have required extreme sensitivity when working on and a keen eye for detail as we’re dealing with a lot of important data. This year, I worked more towards making the documents more accessible; this has been a big challenge working with tables, graphs and infographics to make them more accessible. It’s been a gradual process due to the sensitive time restraints, but I’m excited to continue developing the best accessibility practices across our publications.
