About 2 months ago, the good people at See Saw Creative in Kilmarnock decided to get in touch with me to see if I would like to work with them to give me an idea of the work at a design agency and to boost my experience while looking for a graphic design job.
It was a great opportunity which lasted 6 weeks giving me insight into the pace and quality asked for within a design agency. Both See Saw and myself shared the same belief of quality over quickness; of course the aim is to come up with good ideas within a short period of time, but that quality should always counter designs being rushed! I do need to master all the computer shortcuts though; there were so many that I was unaware of! Some of the clients that I helped design for were:
I covered a variety of jobs like coming up with concepts, photography, presentations, business stationary, advertisements, logos, alternations, mock-ups, print/screen preparations as well as taking on board the client’s wants and needs. On top of the experience at See Saw, I got a tour of Brown Brothers Printers in Irvine and was shown the different printers and machinery. Initially I messaged Brown Brothers who then forwarded my work to See Saw, so I’m thankful to them for making this opportunity possible! It has definitely been an experience I have learned much from and thoroughly enjoyed; I am even more confident that this is the line of work I love and want to continue to explore!
