You may remember a few months ago I discovered these cool retro styled poster of each episode in Doctor Who series 8 by Stuart Manning. For series 9, he was commissioned again by RadioTimes.com to create another 12 posters in further celebration of Peter Capaldi’s role as the Doctor and have been turned into a series of high-quality prints which are available to buy via www.bigchiefstudios.co.uk and they look amazing!
He drew inspiration from retro sources ranging from film noir to the cover art of classic Doctor Who novels, with each poster having it’s own distinctive design. Mark Andrews, director of BIG Chief Studios said: “Stuart has created striking visual themes for each episode’s poster, blending vintage styling and typography to recreate an authentic vintage feel for the digital age.”
I have to say I didn’t think this series was the best; there were just too many 2 part episodes and lost any connection between episodes apart from the first and last episode. That being said the posters for the series are once again brilliant! My favourite posters are the Magician’s Apprentice and Sleep No More episodes. I love all the posters but these two are brilliant!
